Thank you so much for this post! I had just started planning our family vacation for this summer and had decided on Sanibel Island (over Key West). Your pictures confirmed that we have made the right decision. Sanibel looks like a place our family would love! We have never been there and I am looking for recommendations of places to stay, as well as tips for activities and places of interest.

Sanibel has been a Wuebker family favorite for over 20 years! You might want to also try St. George Island off Appalachicola in the elbow of the panhandle for some real “old Florida” experiences. We returned today from a trip to FL, part of which included a couple of days on Sanibel. It was magical! I have not felt so relaxed in a long time, but sadly we followed up Sanibel with Orlando. Big mistake. Sanibel for a full week next time!
