I’m excited to share a snapshot for my new direction for CreateaBalance.com. Since I don’t like long posts, I will be providing more detail overtime.

When I Started Blogging…

When I started blogging in February of 2008, I knew I wanted to build a platform where I could reach out to women and let them know that the 21st century demands of being everything to everyone does not mean women also need to lose their authentic sense of self.

I wanted to let women know that although we can now have it all, having it all is exhausting and that the (amazing) pioneers before us didn’t leave us a manual. As women, we have so many exciting options ahead of us. The challenge today is having to choose between the many options; having to create a balance so our plates aren’t so full that we start drowning in our own success.

When I started blogging in February of 2008, I wanted to reach out and connect to women and I have met the most incredible women along the way. To my surprise, I have also met the most amazing men. For the past 18 months, I have been part of the most incredible blogging tribe. It is located around the world, it is diverse, it brings me joy, and I am honored to be a part of this online blogging community.

Honoring My Blogging Tribe

As I sit at this crossroads, bursting with excitement to set a new mommy vision for my blog, there is a part of me that knows my new direction won’t be a perfect match for some of my current tribe members. I recognize some of them are not mommies. I won’t name you here, but you know who you are. Please know how much I value your friendship, your support, and our connection. All I can say is thank goodness for Twitter.

It’s All About Mommies

I believe CreateaBalance.com’s greatest value is still ahead of her (yes, my blog holds feminine energy). I am harnessing and listening to my natural intuition so this day forward CreateaBalance.com will focus specifically on helping moms create balance in their lives.

  • This sounds really ‘right’ for you Stacey. And goodness knows a site encouraging moms to honour and nurture themselves is needed. Even when we do take the time for ourselves, I find the brain can be so clouded with all our other group thinking, it can be difficult to shut out the noise and know where to place that ME energy. This can also mean making hard decisions about priorities; I know my blog has been a casualty of this. I am busy writing fiction and pursuing my goal of becoming a working novelist, and that combined with other work priorities and family life has meant SHE-POWER is on time out for a bit. How long this will last is anyone’s guess, but the big thing for me has been accepting my own instincts and honouring them. Always a challenge.

I look forward to experiencing the ‘Create a Balance’ change of direction.

  • Beautiful job finding your focus and nailing your niche!

Scope really does matter a lot because I think it helps you speak the language of your audience and hit the problems they care about, in the most relevant and deep way.

We finally know what’s in and what’s out. Since I’ll never be a Mommy, I guess that leaves me out 🙂

That said, we guys can still drop by now and zen, right?

  • Hi Stacey,
Hey, I’m with J.D. here – I may still show up now and then just to see what you’ve got going on. (you can’t get rid of me that easily!)

Stacey, I’ve very much enjoyed your blog and getting to know you over the last year. So, I wish you so much success going forward, and as you continue to develop that niche which has deep meaning to you – I also know you’ll really be a source of inspiration for so many mom’s out there!

“May you always have walls for the winds, a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire, laughter to cheer you, those you love near you and all your heart might desire.” ~ Irish Blessing

Amazing and wonderful days lie ahead of you Stacey. Enjoy all that is to come…

  • Stacey,

I agree with the others that this sounds so right for you, and your passion for this came through in your recent posts. You’ll be the right person for this niche because you believe in it so much.

Can’t help noticing that the previous two posters, JD and Lance, are obviously not moms, and neither am I (perhaps not so obvious) yet we are fully supporting you. So your tribe still seems strong, yet newer members will feel a stronger sense of belonging because these moms will know that you want them here.

Great direction overall, and I know you’ve given this a lot of thought, and can’t wait to see how your blog evolves.

  • Kelly – Hi! It’s great to here from you. Well stated…CreateaBalance is about giving moms permission to honor and nurture themselves. I think I may just have to borrow that language. Shutting out the noise is difficult, which is why I’m including finding time for stillness as part of my mission. This has not been an easy task for me, but it’s vital for a sense of peace and tranquility. I have had to cut out how much I comment on other blogs to keep a balance in my life. I miss visiting and commenting on blogs…but I know for now it is a must even if my blog receives less traffic because of this choice. Miss you and sending your loads of smiles and sunshine.

J.D. – Thank you for all of your guidance and feedback along the way. We will have to continue our conversations over on your blog if my posts get too girly. I will miss seeing you here on a regular basis and hope you show up now and then.

Lance – Perhaps I can convince you to be our token dad to give us your dad’s perspective on balance. I hope you still show up now and then because I learn so much about life by reading your comments. I truly could not imagine the blogosphere w/o you…so as I told J.D. if my blog gets too girly I’ll be sure to be on your blog more often and will see you on Twitter, etc.

Daphne – With tears, I want you guys here too. Moving into a new tribe in exciting but the soulful connections I’ve made with all of you is priceless.

  • Hi Stacey – Congratulations on your new direction! I know this niche is the closest to your heart from what you’ve been posting lately. It sounds like BlogHer may have clarified and illuminated your purpose and your path. Whatever turns out, I know you will approach this journey with an open heart and a joyful spirit. If you need the perspective of an older mommy, you know where to get me. 🙂 All the best, Betsy

  • Betsy – Thank you for your ongoing support. Moms of all ages deserve ME TIME, so I’d always love to hear your perspective on creating a balance.

  • Stacey – I am so glad to be connecting to you at this time of transition, as this all sounds WONDERFUL to me. This is such a big part of my own life and path right now. Looking forward to your new direction very much.

  • Lisa (mommymystic) – It’s great to connect with you too. I’m slowing working on adding meditation into my daily mommy routine.

  • WoW Stacey! It sounds like you’ve really found your footing and are in the midst of creating something wonderful and especially useful for moms! Thank you! I’ve been meditating for some time now, but have taken some time off (read: laziness)..thanks for reminding me it’s something I needed to get started again.

  • Congratulations, Stacey! This is awesome. I’m not a mom either, but like those that commented before me, I’ll pop in to see what you’re doing. I know lots of mom’s and will happily send them here if they need some balance in their lives!

If I can help in any way, let me know…I’d still love to connect at some point!

Wishing you much success as you follow your passion!

  • I call my blog a “she” as well, because I think of it as a ship and I like olde-tyme nautical language. See, we still have something in common. 🙂

  • Looking forward! I agree with Kelly – it’s a great fit for you and much needed.

  • Stacey,
Congratulations on your new journey! You will rock mommy world with your wisdom, smile and advice!

  • Amanda – Thanks for your words of encouragement. I’m excited to be on this journey and hope you continue to be part of the Create a Balance experience.

    Stacey Shipman
    – Thanks Stacey, I’d love to connect too. I know moms can learn so much from you. Maybe for starters I can start highlighting some of your podcasts on my blog.

Chris – Yes! Just because I’m becoming a mommy blogger does not mean we cannot continue to learn from each other!

    Vered
    – Thanks. I’m looking forward to filling this life balance need for moms out there.

Tess – “Rock the mommy word” – I like the sound of that. Thanks for all of your support.

  • I agree that life of a mom (or “near-future-mom”) is something exceptional and could not be compared to anything else. But balance is needed in ordinary everyday life, not only when you’re expecting or having a baby. But I also agree here – balance in mom’s life is the most important. I’ve written your post and 7 points of tips you added. I think that such advices are important and handy, many women need help that they’re not getting from their closest ones.

  • I am glad to know that everything is coming together for you, Stacey. Do make a powerful intent for the Universe to provide the resources that you need, in bringing your new directions into a success! Judging by the level of your passion, success should be sweet! All the best!!!

  • Martin – I agree that balance is needed in everyday life, not only if you are a mom, but I’m excited to be building this blog just for moms.

Evelyn– I sat under the stars last week, asked the Universe for the resources that I need to be successful and thought of you. 🙂

  • Amazing Post.
